Last year I realized that I had only been traveling to “safe” places. The extent of my travel locations didn’t go past North America, Caribbean and Western Europe. So, I said to myself that I would choose somewhere further and more exotic. Well this past summer while hanging out with some friends in southern Portugal, the idea of traveling to Thailand was mentioned and I immediately said I was interested. So we planned the dates and booked the flights and finally the day has arrived.
Fortunately the flights weren’t too expensive and I knew that the US dollar would be worth a lot over there. However, I know the flight is going to be grueling. It’s a total of 23hrs travel time. We have a 16hr flight from New York to Taipei, Taiwan, a 3 hr layover and then a 3hr and 45 minute flight to our final destination, Bangkok, Thailand.
I have to say, I am pretty excited to experience a different lifestyle and culture. The beautiful scenery and beaches also help add to my excitement. Coupled with the fact that I am going with some great people, it should make for a great vacation. See you all soon. . .
