Austin

And then there was Austin. After enjoying a few days down in the capital of Texas, I can honestly say Austin is on my list of places to live. Great weather and a nice vibe. I went down there mainly to visit and check it out and accompany 2 friends of mine who were attending a film makers seminar/workshop called Masters In Motion. Luckily, since one of my friends was working the event he was able to get me in as a stand-in for Matt Jensen’s workshops about lighting.

We got there on Saturday afternoon around 3pm local time and headed to the Omni hotel to check in and drop our bags. Relaxed for a bit then headed out for a little partying. Sunday we wanted to check out the city so we hopped on one of those B-cycle bikes they have in Austin and just road around the city. We ended up on Rainey St and stopped in at Bangers for their Sunday brunch, which I highly recommend. Then we headed up towards University of Texas at Austin to check out the area and ended up at Bullock Texas State Museum. After a stroll around the museum and learning a bit about Texas’ history we headed back to the hotel and ended the night with some bar hopping. We started back at Rainey St then caught an uber ride over to Peche, an absinthe bar on 4th and finally walked our way over to 5th and 6th street. Monday I took a walk up to UTexas to check out the campus and wonder into some of the museums there only to find out that they are all closed on Mondays. So after walking around a bit more I headed back down to the hotel. The rest of my trip I pretty much just hung around the workshop and got to meet some great people.

Our last day in Austin we got back on the bicycles and took one last stroll around Austin. We hit the bike trail that takes you around the river, took in the air and the sights and said our last goodbyes. Until next time Austin.
