Entourage Movie – The Boys Are Back In Town

Entourage Movie

I’ve been a die hard Entourage fan since season 5 episode 5 when I first watched it. I had heard about the show but figured it was just another lame TV show and never gave it a chance. Boy was I wrong. I was introduced to the show one night while at my cousin’s house. He watched it regularly and I happened to be over that night so I watched it as well. I was instantly hooked! I immediately went back and caught up on the first 4 seasons by binge watching the show in a 2-3 week period. I continued watching the series religiously and of course was sad to see it come to an end. Almost as soon as the series ended, rumors of an Entourage movie spread and I didn’t want to get my hopes up because I didn’t want to be disappointed if they turned out to be untrue. Fortunately, they were true and the movie was scheduled for a 2015 release. The day has finally come and it was good.

The movie was set for a June 3rd release but most movies are actually played the day before. My local AMC theater had a 7pm and a 9pm screening and being that it was a week day I opted for the 7pm. I sat in my chair at about 7:01 and previews hadn’t even started yet so I waited. And waited some more. It was about 45 minutes past the start time when we were finally told the 7pm show would not air due to some malfunction with the projector. I was determined to watch this movie though so I stuck around for the 9pm show.

The intro scene finally started and my eyes grew wide as it hit me that I was about to see the boys from Queens return to the screens once again. Entourage would return in all of its glory. Although it may be biased, my opinion is that this movie is definitely a must watch if you were even the slightest of fans of the original Entourage television series. The same high energy and shenanigans that we have grown to love in the series, the same characters with a bunch of cameos, the same attitude and the same pace. It was a whole season in a span of a feature film length. I was skeptical at first because remakes and adoptions into different mediums usually get slaughtered because they are made to take advantage of the money it will make but I have to say I was quite happy with what I saw. If you are a fan of the series you will absolutely enjoy this film.

Now with all that said I was sad to see it end and I would’ve rather have seen a new season instead of a movie. Hopefully they create a spin off television series focused on Ari Gold, kind of like what they did with Better Call Saul which is a spin off of Breaking Bad. But if not I will be okay with that too. I do plan to watch the Entourage film once more to truly analyze it this time around, instead of just being mesmerized by what was happening and just following the story.
